I’ve worked in the technology sector since the late 80s in a variety of capacities, including programming, software design, project management and technical marketing. I’ve been Product Manager for a language compiler, Technical Marketing Manager for a software company, VP Business Development for an intranet company and COO/Co-founder of startup Intranetics (later Intranets.com), launched by the Idealab internet incubator.
I spent many years heading a successful teaching and consulting business with clients such as 3M, Countrywide and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. I wrote and co-authored authored two books on software design, was the editor of two technical publications, wrote for several technical magazines and spoke at conferences all over the world.
In 2003 I branched off into Photoshop work, finally turning my hobby into a business. Savannah Custom Scrapbook Design specializes in creating one-of-a-kind coffee table books from people’s photos and memorabilia. I also restore old photos and make custom invitations and posters.
Since 2008, I’ve been working in the PR/Marketing field. I’ve also had the pleasure of working closely with marketing agency Buzztone, pioneers in the digital space and creators of the VWalls technology. In my role as a social media specialist, I’ve conducted blog outreach and the creation of online content for clients such as Hallmark Channel and TOMS Shoes (both via Buzztone), Shutterfly and James Taylor.
To me, social media is another tool in the marketing toolbox. It’s a fantastic way for companies to have real, ongoing conversations with their customers. I enjoy creating custom content that excites and continues that conversation.
